GOD WILL FULFILL ALL THAT HE HAS PROMISED ME
Biblical Context
“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. He has spoken, and will he not do? He has promised, and will he not perform?” Numbers 23:19
This verse is found in the book of Numbers, which narrates the history of the people of Israel in the desert after leaving Egypt. In this chapter, Balaam, a pagan prophet, is hired by the king of Moab to curse Israel. However, when Balaam attempts to curse Israel, God inspires him to bless them instead.
In this particular verse, Balaam is acknowledging God's unchanging nature and faithfulness, despite his own desires and the attempts of others to manipulate God.
God is not man:
This phrase contrasts God's nature with human nature. We humans are prone to lie, change our minds and fail to keep our promises. God, however, is perfect in all his attributes, including his faithfulness.
He has spoken, and will not do? He has promised, and will not perform?
These rhetorical questions emphasize God's reliability. Once God has spoken or promised something, we can fully trust that he will keep his word, at the right time, according to his will.
The Importance of Faith:
This verse encourages us to have faith in God and in his promises, even when circumstances seem difficult, to have the certainty that God will make all his promises come true, no matter what is happening.
