God will lift me up and give me new strength
Isaiah 40:31
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Biblical Context
This verse is part of a key passage in the book of Isaiah, where the prophet comforts Israel with the promise of the return from the Babylonian exile. Chapter 40 begins with a message of hope and comfort. God, through Isaiah, reminds His people that, although they may feel weak and abandoned, He is the powerful and inexhaustible Creator. The quote comes at the end of a section that contrasts human weakness with God's infinite power.
Teaching
The main lesson of this passage is a powerful promise of divine renewal and strength. The verse establishes a direct relationship between "waiting on the Lord" and receiving new strength. The word "wait" here does not mean passive inactivity, but rather a patient and active trust in God's timing and plan.
Promise of Renewed Strength
God promises that His power is unlimited. Unlike human strength, which dwindles, God's power is constantly renewed in those who trust in Him.
The Power of Active Waiting
The condition for receiving these powers is to "wait on the Lord." This teaches believers that their hope should not lie in their own abilities or plans, but in God's perfect timing. It is a call to patience and unwavering trust.
Strength for each stage
La promesa cubre las diferentes fases de la vida: el poder de "levantarse" en momentos de crisis (como el águila), la energía para "correr" en períodos de actividad intensa y la resistencia para "caminar" durante los trayectos largos y difíciles de la vida.
