A sacrificial, unconditional and helpful love

John 15:12
"This is my commandment: that you love one another, as I have loved you."

The central teaching is that love is not optional, but Christ's primary commandment. However, the most profound part of the phrase is the standard He sets: "just as I have loved you." Jesus doesn't ask them for ordinary love, but rather a love that imitates His own. A sacrificial, unconditional, and serving love.

Love as a Daily Decision
Instead of being just a feeling, love becomes a command and a conscious choice, where the couple decides to love each other every day, regardless of the circumstances or feelings of the moment.

The Bond of a Sacrificial Love

The Basis of Unconditional Love
Love in a couple is strengthened by being unconditional. Just as Jesus loved his disciples even though they would abandon him, a couple who applies this principle chooses to love the other person for who they are, with their flaws and imperfections, rather than for what they do or how they feel.
