Seeking Mercy and the Way
Psalm 143:8
"Let all your things be done in love."
"Let me hear of your loving-kindness in the morning, for I put my trust in you; make me know the way I should go, for I lift up my soul to you."
This verse is a reminder of the importance of beginning the day seeking God. It demonstrates a deep dependence on Him, not only for His mercy, but also for guidance in daily life. David recognizes that his trust is in God and that, therefore, his soul and decisions must be in harmony with God's will. The central teaching is that God's guidance is vital and should be the first thing we seek each day.
Start the day well
Instead of carrying over tensions or disagreements from the previous day, couples can consciously choose to begin each morning with an act of mercy and mutual forgiveness. Remembering God's mercy prompts us to be merciful to our partners, offering them a new opportunity.
Find the way together
"Make me know the way I should go" becomes a prayer for the couple. Instead of each walking separately, both can seek God's guidance together for the important decisions of their shared life: how to manage finances, how to raise children, or how to face a challenge. This creates a foundation of mutual trust and unity of purpose.
God's direction
The verse fosters mutual trust based on a shared faith. When both partners have "lifted up their souls" to God, the relationship rises above everyday worries and is sustained by a greater spiritual purpose. This makes the relationship more resilient, as both trust God to guide them through any adversity.
