God keeps his promises
2 Peter 3:9
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
Biblical Context
It is important to consider the broader context of Peter's second letter. Peter is writing to Christians to reaffirm their faith and warn them about false teachers who were distorting Jesus' teachings.
In chapter 3, Peter talks about the return of Jesus and how some people scoff at the promise of his coming. These people argue that since Jesus has not yet returned, his promise must be false.
God is patient:
The Lord does not delay in fulfilling His promises, but is patient with mankind, giving us time to repent and believe in Him.
God wants everyone to be saved:
God's desire is not that people perish, but that they repent of their sins and find salvation in Jesus Christ.
God's patience has a purpose:
God is being patient because he wants everyone to have the opportunity to know and accept him.
Trust in GOD
We can trust that God's promises will be fulfilled, even though at times it may seem that they are taking time.
