YAHVÉ-TSIDKENU: GOD OUR JUSTICE
Biblical Context
This name appears in Jeremiah 23:6 in the context of a prophecy about the Messiah: "The days are coming," declares the LORD [YHWH], "when I will raise up from the seed of David a righteous branch; he will reign in wisdom in the land." 1 And this is the name by which he will be called: “Jehovah, our righteousness.”
Here, the prophet Jeremiah announces the coming of a righteous king, a descendant of David, whose name will be "Yahweh-Tsidkenu." This king will not only bring justice, but will be the very embodiment of divine justice.
