YAHVÉ-SHAMMÁ: GOD, IS PRESENT
Biblical Context
This name first appears in Ezekiel 48:35 in connection with the New Jerusalem, the heavenly city that God promises to rebuild. There, it is said that the city will be called "Yahweh-Shamma", indicating that the presence of God will be the center and glory of that new city.
However, the idea of God's presence among his people is a recurring theme throughout the Bible. From the Tabernacle in the wilderness to Solomon's Temple, God's presence was manifested visibly and tangibly.
